Links for Advocacy
Dear CCRA Members,
As a reminder, the Advocacy Committee has been charged with:
Fostering relationships that will promote our profession
Fostering strategic partnerships
Encouraging membership to develop a drive for volunteerism
And as part of that effort, the Advocacy Committee and the Board would like to share some useful information with you. This first document was shared by the COC in their newsletter and is called “Cancer Prevention and Early Detection: Fact & figures 2025-2026”. The very recent data is useful for you, your team, your cancer committee, your friends and family. We are working closely with the American Cancer Society to provide information you can use, and in turn, they promote the ODS profession. Also included in the COC newsletter was the “ACS Support Impact Report”, which provides information on patient services offered and provided.
The next document/link, Priorities | American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network, is information about ACS/CAN, which is “making cancer a top priority for public officials and candidates at the federal, state and local levels.” “Did you know that before ACS CAN and the Society got involved in state legislative campaigns, many insurance companies didn’t cover mammograms and other cancer lifesaving cancer screenings? Because of the work of cancer advocates, private health insurance providers are now required to cover mammograms so women can get the early diagnosis that could save their life.” Frequently Asked Questions | American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network Please review their “priorities” to be better informed and consider getting involved.
We will continue to share the ACS Partnership reports, providing updates and resources on a routine basis. Please share, as knowledge is power.
In today’s world, we must promote and advocate for our profession, Oncology Data Specialists, for without us doing the work we do, there would be a world without quality and timely data, followup, survival rates, treatment efficacy, etc.
Thank you for your time and commitment to making the world a better place.
CCRA Advocacy Committee.
